Switch Restaurant & Lounge is a Dubai-based brand, founded by food and beverage entrepreneur, Deem Albassam. Albassam collaborated with the globally renowned designer, Karim Rashid, also known as ‘the poet of plastic’ to give the restaurant a completely different look and feel from any other restaurant in the United Arab Emirates with its futuristic design. The vibrant yet sophisticated restaurant showcases the skills of world-class chefs with an innovative menu that brings together classic favorites with a contemporary twist. From an exciting spread of camel meat delicacies to Nutella-inspired desserts, this international menu has been an exciting addition to the culinary scene in Dubai. 

Karim Rashid is responsible for the design and conceptualization of Switch Restaurants throughout the UAE, with his creative team touching on every aspect — from architectural design to interior spaces, to branding and identity. While working at Rashid’s studio in New York City, Rachel had the opportunity to contribute to the multi-month assignment for Switch Restaurants in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Bahrain brand identity. Rachel offered design concepts in branded stationery, uniforms, stationery, and custom dishware design.
