Rachel contributed to the creative team at Karim Rashid’s New York studio on a bold new collaboration for Italica Tiles — one of India’s leading tile companies. Known for mass-market offerings, Italica sought to reposition with a futuristic signature line, “Designs by Karim.” The result was a limited-edition tile collection that brought Rashid’s unmistakable aesthetic to large-format architectural surfaces.

Pattern-Driven Identity
with a Global Edge

Rachel supported the brand and identity team, focusing on concepting and executing custom patterns that embodied Rashid’s vision. These avant-garde designs featured fluid geometry, saturated color palettes, and bold repetition — each tile reflecting Karim’s signature sensibility. Her contributions included designing patterns in multiple colorways and aligning the visual language with both the brand’s aspirations and Karim’s globally recognized design ethos.

 

A Landmark Launch
for Indian Design

The collection debuted in spectacular fashion at the Sahara Star Hotel in Mumbai, drawing attention from the design world and elevating Italica’s position in the market. The launch event celebrated the power of creative risk-taking — and marked a rare, high-profile moment where commercial tile design crossed paths with high art.
